Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #12 - May Flowers

It finally feels like Spring now that the warm weather has arrived.  A day here and there with some rain makes a perfect scenario for May flowers!    The new challenge at The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge is  "May Flowers" challenge!  For the month of May, we ask that you create something with flowers.

I created this canvas using Tim Holtz Stamps by Stampers Anonymous.  This canvas is a tribute to my Mom who passed away last December.  She was my go to person when I had questions about my flowers.

We have a fabulous sponsor this month
We're SO excited to announce our awesome May sponsor and prize! The generous people at Stampers Anonymous are offering two prizes that each include a Dina Wakley Stamp set and Stencil set!!!

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #11 - April Showers

Spring is upon us and so are those rainy days.  I'll take the rain any day over the snow.   The new challenge at The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge is "April Showers" !  For the month of April, we ask that you create something having to do with rain. This could be umbrellas, rain boots, clouds, rainbows, etc.... use your imagination and get creative! Be sure to tell us how you incorporated something "rainy" into your project!

We have a fabulous sponsor this month

We were all fortunate enough to be supplied with products to use by DecoArt this month.  I watched several videos on their site (which you can find here) and was amazed at what you can do with their products.   I created a canvas.  April is the month where you still see visible signs from winter but pops here and there that Spring is here.

I wanted to mimic the colors in tree bark and used DecoArt Crackle Paste.  After it dries it leaves a great cracked appearance.  I then randomly painted with some DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic paint in Burnt Umber, White and Yellow.  After the paint dried I applied a coat of DecoArt Antiquing Cream in Carbon Black.  Absolutley love this stuff.  After it dried I took a baby wipe and wiped it off, leaving the black in all of the cracks.

Here are a few close ups:

Three random winners will receive a prize package of DecoArt products similar to the picture below.

Mixed Media Monthly Challenge #10 - Birds of a Feather

Happy March 1st from a cold and snowy Maryland.  Spring is just around the corner and I know for me and I'm sure a lot of you that we can't wait for warmer weather and the end of Winter and snow.  The new challenge at Mixed Media Monthly Challenge is a reminder of warmer weather and Spring time with the March "Birds of a Feather" challenge!  Just make a mixed media project with anything "birdie" like birds, feathers, eggs, nests, etc...

I created a layout with a picture of some beautiful birds that I found on Pinterest.

The papers I used are from an old collection of Basic Grey, Serenade.  I did a lot of stamping and water coloring using some gelatos from Faber Castell Design Memory Craft.

Here are a few close ups:

Speaking of Faber Castell Design Memory Craft, they are our sponsor this month.

They are offering TWO great prizes! One winner receives a Mixed Media Gelato kit and another winner receives a Card Making Gelatos kit.
