Build Your Wings - Creative Embellishments

Hi everyone!  I'm up on the Creative Embellishments blog today sharing this vintage over sized tag I created with some Creative Embellishments chipboard.

I used various papers from an older Prima Marketing collection, Butterfly to cover my tag and to build layers. I adhered some white lace in various spots to the tag base.  Next  I inked the edges of the tag and layers with some creamy brown ink. I did some random stamping on the tag base using the Distressed Script Stamp.

I embossed the  Leafy Corner Flourish Set with some ivory green embossing powder, and the  Butterfly Flourish  with a mix of the ivory green and petal embossing powders.  I cut the Butterfly Flourish
into two pieces and used one at the top of the tag and the other at the left middle of the tag.  I also used pieces from the Mini Leave Set 2, embossed with ivory green embossing powder.

Here you can see the other piece from the Butterfly Flourish.

Another view of the Leafy Corner Flourish Set and to the left the Mini Leave Set 2.  I finished off the tag by adding a couple of dragon flies I had in my stash along with lots of flowers, mini prills and some glitter.

The Traveller - Creative Embellishments June Challenge

Hi everyone!  It's June 1st and that means the new challenge is up over on the
Creative Embellishments blog. I created a masculine canvas.

I was inspired by the roller coaster tracks and the ferris wheels, and went with a travel theme. The twist to the June challenge is to add a banners or penants.  I added a couple of penants beneath the photo. To create the vintage worn look on the canvas, I applied some printed tissue paper and then applied some stenciling and stamping.

Beneath the layers I placed the Travel Corner, inked with Walnut Stain Distress Ink and dabbed with Copper wax, and the Nautical Compass, inked with Walnut Stain Distress Ink and dabbed with Fire Ruby wax.

To the right I used a piece from Circle Doodle Frames, mimicking the roller coaster tracks.

Here is another view of the Circle Doodle Frames along with a chipboard piece from the Steampunk Artist Trading Cards, mimicking the ferris wheel.

I hope you will play along!  You could win a $50 gift card to Creative Embellishments and purchase some fabulous chipboard, stamps, stencils or flairs.

With All My Heart - Creative Embellishments

Hi everyone!  I'm up on the Creative Embellishments blog today sharing an over sized vintage tag I created with lots of Creative Embellishments chipboard.

I started off by cutting several sizes of paper and inking the edges with distressed walnut stain ink.  Next I layered the papers on the tag.  A couple of coats of distress crackle was then added.  Once dried I added some alcohol ink in various spots and then begin to build my layers.

On bottom layer shown here, I used the Distressed Script Stamp. Beneath my title I used Flourish 18, which I cut in half, and inked green and added some white gold wax.  To the left of the Flourish 18 I placed Flourish 5, which I inked with various shades of purple and added white gold wax.  I cut the
Flourish 5 into 3 pieces and used in various spots on the tag.

To the left of the photo I used the larger rose from Rose Set 1 which I cut in half.  The other half was placed on the other side of the photo.  I inked the Rose Set 1 with shades of purple and pink and added white gold wax.  Beneath the layers I placed the medium size doily from Doily Frame Set 2 and used the smaller doily from the set under the photo. Both doilies were inked with distress walnut stain ink and dabbed with purple and white gold waxes.

Here I placed another piece from Flourish 5
and beneath it is the medium doily from Doily Frame Set 2.

Behind the photo I placed a piece from Fern Foliage 3,  inked lavender along with pieces from
Flourish 18Rose Set 1 and Flourish 5.  To finish off the tag I added some lace and sprinklings of mica chips, glass glitter and micro beads.

She Was Herself Again - Creative Embellishments

Hi everyone!  I'm back today to share a vintage canvas I created featuring some of my favorite
Creative Embellishments chipboard, a paper doll from the Tim Holtz Idea-ology paper doll collection and lots of tid bits from my stash.  I had previously mentioned in a past post that I had come across a lot of long forgotten items in my stash. Quite surprising what I found and have put to use.  I love creating vintage projects and I have to admit that this one is by far my favorite.

I started off with a 6 x 8 canvas that I covered with Tim Holtz collage papers.  I added some walnut stain ink around the edges along with some Finnabair Indian Pink Wax.  Next up in the process was to build layers using various tickets and decorative papers.

I used a couple of chipboard pieces here, Flourish 3 which I covered with a mixture of Finnabair waxes, White Gold, Firebird and Indian Pink.  Beneath the flowers I used Flourish Set 27 which I cut into several pieces to use in various places on the canvas.  I inked the pieces with dark green and added some White Gold wax.

Here you can see more of the Flourish Set 27.   My title is from Tim Holtz Clippings Stickers.

Beneath the paper doll I placed a piece from the Mini Pocket Watches, inked with Walnut Stain ink and dabbed with rust paste.  Beneath the watch is a piece from Mini Ornate Title Word Frames, covered with White Gold and Indian Pink Finnabair waxes.

Here is another area where I used  Flourish Set 27 and the other half of  Mini Ornate Title Word Frames.

Inspire - Creative Embellishments May Challenge

Hi everyone and happy May 1st!  My how time files. A new challenge is up at Creative Embellishments and today I'm sharing my take on the challenge with  an oversized tag I created full of lot of Creative Embellishments chipboard.

I started off by applying a design to the tag with some gel medium and stencil.  Once it dried, I covered the tag with black gesso.  Next I applied Art Alchemy Waxes by Finnabair using Peacock, Electric Violet, Indian Pink and Fireboard .  I then painted all of the chipboard with black gesso and applied the same colors of wax as I used on the tag.

No photo description available.

May Challenge:  Be inspired by one element and for the Twist add something with wings.
I was inspired by the beautiful colors, and for the twist I added a butterfly.

Here I used the Monarch Buttefly Set and the word Inspire from the Inspire Word Set.  I cut the Flourish 32 into several pieces and placed the leaves among the flowers on the tag.

On the base of the tag I applied the Intricate Circle Frame and Mandala Lotus and beneath the butterfly I placed the Flourish Corner 2.

Note To Self - Creative Embellishments

Hi Everyone!  Sharing a frame today that I created for Creative Embellishments.  I recently took a trip to the dollar store and purchase a lot of bargain frames.  I thought it would be fun to alter one.  I was going through my stash and came across some older scrapbook supplies that I had purchase years ago and thought it would be fun to create a project using them.

I stared off with a small black frame and added some Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide Ink around the edges.  I then began building up layers with various papers and die cuts. I wanted the contents to mimic a clipboard.

I used several pieces of Creative Embellishments chipboard on my project.  The flowers are Flourish 11, which I emboss pink and also added some pink paint.  I used the Circles chipboard piece, embossed and inked with turquoise embossing powder and Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide Ink.  I cut the circles into several pieces to use in various spots.  The Distressed Harlequin was embossed with lime embossing powder.

More views of the chipboard I used,  Flourish 11,  Circles  and  Distressed Harlequin.

I found this cute fabric brad in my stash.  Thought is was a perfect fit for the frame and loved that it went with the colors!

Daydreaming - Creative Embellishments

Hi everyone!  Sharing a canvas I created for Creative Embellishments, with lots of Creative Embellishments Chipboard.

I started off by creating a background on the canvas using a lace stencil and modeling paste.  I then applied some layers of linen and lemonade paint along with some white gold wax.  I randomly stamped on the background using the Distressed Script Stamp. Next I began to build up layers with various papers, flowers and die cuts.

I used the large Flourish 26, which I painted with lemonade paint and randomly dabbed with some white gold wax.

The leaves are from Flourish 27.  I covered the flourish with some olive ink and white gold wax.  I cut the flourish into several pieces and placed them among the flowers.  Tucked under the leaves is a piece from Flourish Set 19 which I painted with lemonade paint and dabbed on some white gold wax.

On the left side of the canvas I placed the other piece from the Flourish Set 19, painted the same as the other piece.  Here you can see where I placed more leaves from Flourish 27.  I then applied some art stones and peach micro beads.  I added a couple of butterflies from Tim Holtz Idea-ology Layers Botanical and a little girl from Tim Holtz Ideal-ology Paper Dolls.

Driven - Creative Embellishments April Challenge

Hi everyone and happy April!  My how times flies.

It's the first of the month and that means a new challenge on the Creative Embellishments blog.

No automatic alt text available.
The April Challenge is to be inspired by this image, and for a twist add wood.
I found the picture to be very  inspirational.  I was inspired by so many elements.  The one that really stood out for me were the tree branches and roots.  I thought of creation, growth and to be driven by what beauty our wonderful planet holds.

Here I've used several pieces of Creative Embellishments chipboard, Frond Set 1Nautical Compass and the word Driven from the Journey Word Set.  All chipboard was inked and dabbed with colored wax.

Here is used Flourish 6, inked green and dabbed with emerald wax. Tucked within my layers is a small green wooden ticket.  I also added some pieces of trees branches beneath the bottom layers.

Don't you just love this cute chipboard Hummingbird!  I inked it brown and added copper wax.

Stop by the Creative Embellishments blog for some inspiration by the design team.  I'll hope you have time to join us this month.

Friendship Cards - Creative Embellishments

Hi everyone!  Today I have a couple of cards to share that I created with  some elegant
Creative Embellishments chipboard.  I don't make cards that often, but when I do they are great for using up some bits and pieces left over  from various paper collections and embellishments.

I used some papers from Stamperia's Roses & Laces collection, along with some Prima flowers and sentiments from K & Company.

For my first card  I went with pink/mint green and cut various papers to add layers to the card.  All of the edges were inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

Beneath the layering I added the Flourish Corner 2 which I embossed with shabby pink embossing enamel.
Beneath the K & Company sentiment I added a piece from the Filigree Corner Set 2, also embossed shabby pink.   I added pieces of white lace, flowers and beaded pink stems.

Here is another view of the  Flourish Corner 2.

My second card features peach and mint green.  I created layers and inked all of the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

Beneath the layers I placed the Flourish 17 chipboard which I inked with Distress Oxide Old Paper Ink.  Tucked within the flowers I used pieces from the Flourish Set 15, also inked with Distress Oxide Old Paper Ink.  I cut off some of the Flourish 11 flower chipboard, inked with Distress Oxide Ripe Persimmon, and tucked the pieces behind the flowers.

I added some Prima flowers and ephemera along with some lace, art stones and micro beads.
