Remember Just Smile

I'm getting this one in by the skin of my teeth  for my first try over at Bird Is The Word.
Their current challenge is to use the word SMILE.  My son has always been know for his goofy smiles.  It's one thing about him that has not changed in all these years.
This picture was taken on his fifth birthday.  I'm famous for saying "Remember Just Smile" before snapping a picture.

I used Amy Tangerine's Sketchbook collection for my layout along with a  bunch of rub ons from my stash.
Before printing out my picture I uploaded it to Photoshop and added the cute digital frame by Jenna Desai that I purchased awhile ago at thelilypod.com.
Hard to believe this was taken almost 20 years ago.
Thanks for stopping by!

You're Cute As A Button

I'm on a roll . . . . another layout done!!!  For me this is an accomplishment.  My life is hectic and I feel as though I've been pulled in a 1000 directions.  My mom's original diagnosis of dementia has now been labeled Alzheimers and she continues to deteriorate rapidly.  What was mild a month ago is now moderate and I fear what lies ahead.  I've come to terms that my mom as she was last August when first diagnosed is gone, and both my sister and I adjusted to her weekly changes.  We never thought that there would be as many changes with her as we have had.  All has happened too quickly.  I take it one day at a time, and struggle with adding some "positive" moments in my day to day life.  My scrapbooking took a big hit and I was thrilled that I actually enjoyed working on another layout.  I used my May kit from Artful Delight to create this layout of my son at the age of one year old.
Isn't he just the cutest thing ever?!?!?!?  Hard to believe that in two weeks he will turn 25.  I really enjoyed working with the girly papers in the kit to create a "boy" layout.
I added some Rub-on stitching by DCWV that I had in my stash and a
heart tag from The Paper Bakery Kit Club.
I hope that my momentum stays with me and that I'll be able to get something else created.

Love My Girls

Hope everyone enjoyed the long holiday weekend!  The weather here in Maryland was beautiful, even though we had some strong thunderstorms move through Saturday evening.  I spent Saturday with my sister and we paid a visit to the only LSS around us.  I haven't been there in years and believe it or not I only spent $10 on paper!!!  Monday my sister came over for a cookout to celebrate her birthday.  Happy Birthday Barbara!!!  You're the best :)  In between all of the weekend activities I did manage to complete another layout using my May Artful Delight Scrapbook kit using another wonderful picture of Julina with her two beautiful daughters.

Love the papers in the May kit.  Such beautiful colors.  Here are a few closeups:

The reveal for the June kits was on May 24th and there are a few left:

A Mother's First Love . . .

Once Upon A Sketch May's challenge is all about "Mum", or as here in the US "Mom".
The criteria for journaling is as follows:
Ideas for journalling: you as a mother, your role as a working/stay-at-home mum, sacrifices/benefits of being a mum, one day in your life as a mum, how your life has changed since being a mum, a tribute to your own mum, grandmother, guardian or someone you consider as close as your mum, your relationship with your mum or your daughter, one trait you have take from your mum, your desire to be a mum, your feelings on motherhood, what does it mean to be a mum?, what kind of mum do you want to be? , Mother's Day celebrations/traditions, your favourite Mother's Day gift given/receive etc..

I decided to create a layout centered around my feelings as a first time Mom. I remember after I gave birth to my son and holding him for the first time and being overwhelmed with love as I had never felt before.  I chose to use a picture of myself holding my precious bundle of joy, surrounded by my mom and sister.  A joyous occasion for all. Me as a new mom, my sister as a new aunt and for my mother with her first grandchild. I used Websters Pages Everyday Poetry Collection.  Love the gorgeous colors!

As always Nadia has outdone herself with a gorgeous sketch for the challenge:
 A few closeups:
A beautiful quote that captures the love of a mother for her child.

My journaling is hidden under the layer, and by pulling out the scallop trim you can read it:

My Beautiful Daughter

Yeah!!!!!!!!  I got a layout done.  I've been struggling lately with my creativity and it's been tough.  Nothing seems to come together.  I pull out my pictures and supplies, go over in my head what I want to do and then I freeze up. Way too much stress in my life right now.  My May kit from Artful Delight has been sitting on my scrapbook table for a few weeks.  It's a gorgeous kit filled with Echo Park Graceful and Crate Paper's Pretty Party.  I worked on this layout little by little for the past week and I'm happy that I finally was able to
 finish it.
The beautiful person in the layout is my hairdresser Julina and her adorable little girl Zoey!  Besides being the best hairdresser ever, Julina is the sweetest and most loving person.
I cut out the lacing bundle and punched some strips of paper with my Martha Stewart Traditional Eyelet punch and added them.
The mini canvas banners by Prima were stamped using My Mind's Eye Stella Rose Gertie "Girly" stamps.
Unfortunately the Artful Delight May kit is sold out, but later this week Leeanne will debut the June kit.  I just got mine in the mail and all I can say is fabulous!
Thanks for being so patient with me.  I've spent very little time on the computer lately.  I won't bore you all with the details, but I am going through a really rough time in my life right now.  Seems it has all caught up with me and really taken a toll on me.  I'm trying my hardest to keep myself together, but some days are hard.

Flowers From My Garden Color Me Happy!

My mojo needed a major jump start and the April  Daydreamer kit from Scrapbook Circle helped with all of the bright and colorful Amy Tangerine Sketchbook papers, along with a couple of challenges,
ScrapFit's Workout #67 - Decorate With A Doily and Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge Garden Challenge.
I enjoyed using the framed paper from Amy Tangerine for the pictures of some of my favorite flowers!  You all know how much I love my flower gardens!!!
I love this collection and after receiving my kit, I ordered some additional papers and embellishemnts.  It's so out of my comfort zone, but I have to admit it's addicting!!
I used my Crafters Workshop Swirls and Flowers template to cut out some flowers and spellbinders Shapeabilities Foliage die for the stem and leaves
and added a bright and colorful orange doily for the ScrapFit Challenge,  purchased from The Purple Pumpkin

I dug into my container of rub ons and added a few to my layout:

I'm hoping now that I have finished this layout that more will be coming!!  Life has been
extremely busy and stressful for me lately and I do miss my scrappy time.

Poppy - Frosted Designs National Scrapbook Weekend Crop

Frosted Designs has a fun filled weekend for everyone starting right now and running through Sunday.  We have lots of challenges scheduled on our blog as well as on our Facebook page.   I'm hosting the first challenge which is a pattern paper challenge.
Create a project using only pattern paper.  You may include embellishments but no cardstock.
I created my layout using papers from Authentique's Gathering collection.

You have until midnight, Monday May 7th to complete your project and link it here at my post over at Frosted Designs.  If you create a project using only one manufacturer as I did, you'll get two chances to win my rak:
I'm still going through my stash, so I will add more to my rak.

Our next challenge will be at 8:00 pm on our Facebook Page.

Hope you all have fun this weekend!

Thanks for stopping by!
