Oh The Times They Are A Changing . . . Scrapbooking Then And Now

The fourth Thursday of each month I do a DT project for She's A Sassy Lady blog.  While I was pondering over what I should share for the month of August, I was looking through a box of  old pictures. It amazes me how I can look through the same box numerous times, and always end up missing a special picture.  I came across two pictures of my kids riding their bikes when they were little.  I instantly remembered that one of the first layouts I did years ago used these same pictures.  I thought it would be fun to use the pictures to create a new layout and to show how much my style has changed over the past 12 years.
Here is my new layout:
I used some Bo Bunny Sun Kissed paper and added some embellishments from my stash.  I added a cute handmade button (green polka dots with a lady bug) that I purchased from Sam at The Purple Pumpkin.
I got two new Cricut cartridges for my birthday.  I used Country Life to cut out the banners and Live Simply to cut out the cute little turtle.
Times sure have changed in the world of scrapbooking.  I can remember the days of cardstock, stickers and wild pattern paper. The whose who of manufacturers were Debbie Mumm, Anna Griffin, Mrs. Grossman and Me and My Big Ideas. Remember their cute little stick people?  The stepping stone for scrapbooking was Creative Memories.  I was introduced into this craft by a CM consultant.  She had made an album at the request of my family for a birthday present for me.  I thought it was the most beautiful thing I had seen in a long time.  I took a beginners class and the rest is history.
Now for the unveiling of my original layout.  This was the fourth  page in my first album.  Bright cardstock and those adorable stickers from Me and My Big Ideas.
My how my style has changed, but at the same time so has the availability of products.  Financially I think I was better off 12 years ago versus present day.  I've thought many times of redoing my original layouts, but then decided to leave themm alone since I scrap to preserve memories.
I would love to see my friends here in blogger land try what I did.  Find those extra pictures.  Create a new layout and then post it along with your original!
Thanks for stopping by!
. . . Debbie

Love that top layout Debbie, it looks fantastic!!! Love the Purple Pumpkin button on there ;) Your older l/o is cute too. Times sure do change though, hey. My first layouts look like a 5 year old made them, but I was so proud of them, lol :)

I just started scrapping 3 years ago and can see the change even in my layouts what a difference- this is a great idea. Love what you have done with the new version-yet the memories are still the same!

My style has changed sooooo much as well and you look and think, wow, was that really me. I am keeping all of my old work though, as I think of it all as memories, not just the memories each page records, but it is also the memory of my style and how I have changed. Love your use of the PP products, you have placed them so well.

I love looking back and how my style has changed and how much better my LO's look now compared to when I started! I have some friends that have gone back and redone some of their pages (albums) and I just don't get that...

I absolutely LOVE your LO! It is beyond beautiful! The bright and cheery colors just make me feel good and smile!

I love going back and seeing how my style has changes and my techniques have improved. I still treasure my older, beginning layouts, but I love the artistic progression too. I can't imaging what our layouts will look like in just a few more years. I love your layouts. I didn't think I was going to need Live Simply, but now?????........

Both layouts are so beautiful, in their so different ways, and I love them both.
It is so nice to look back and see how things have changed. We have changed, our style has changed, our kids have changed, and scrapbooking has changed.
Great use of the dp and of your new Cricut cartridges you got.
I myself started scrapbooking a few months ago, so I can't really go back...
Thanks for sharing!

Another fabulous layout with the Sun Kissed line! Love all your layering you have going on! I've been scrapping for 12 years now and one of my favourite lines when I first started was Me and My Big Ideas too! It's fun to look back and see how much not only the products have changed but also our styles isn't it?
