Daisy - UmWow June Sketch Challenge

I've had this one on my "to do" list this month and got around to working on it yesterday and today.  I knew when I saw the  sketch at UmWowStudio I was going to follow the hexagon pattern on it, as I love UmWow's hexagon chipboard. I basically followed the sketch and knew I had the perfect picture for my layout, a daisy from a planter on my deck.  Now there is a story behind the planter.  I actually call it my "magical" planter, as none of the perennial plants in it I planted.  Years ago I would place some annuals in it and then stopped as I would always forget about the planter when it came to watering.   About five years ago plants appeared in the planter and have made their return every year.
I recently bought some Tim Holtz distress markers and used the Wild Honey one around my torn edges.  After I apply the marker, I dipped a paint brush in some water and and painted the edges to bring a little of the color into my white background and then inked it with some SEI bark ink.

Here is the June sketch from UmWow:

Here I used an UmWow butterfly chipboard which I stamped with a flower background from Dylusions Background Love stamps.  I then applied some yellow liquid applique. I also used the Dylusions stamp on parts of my background.

Here I used a UmWow daisy chipboard.
I painted the top of it with some Americana Marigold paint and then sprinkled on some yellow flock. I also watered down the marigold paint to add some splatters on my page.

A little cluster to top it off!

It was a hot and humid day today, perfect for staying indoors and crafting.  Thunderstorms are in the forecast for everyday this week and throughout the weekend.  It puts a damper on outdoor plans, but then again it's a good excuse to stay inside and create!

I Could Kiss Every Freckle On Your Face!

Well,  I'm sure I got your attention with my title!  I snag a lot of pictures from my friend's  FB page and usually use her comment as the title.  The picture is of her cute, freckled face son.
I love how this layout turned out!  I used my June kit from Artful Delight along with the June layout sketch and combined it with the current Polka Dot challenge at Frosted Designs.  I created the heart background from a heart image from the Silhouette Online Store which  you can find here. I right clicked the heart image and chose the offset option which create the outlined heart.

A few closeups:

I cut the bee from an image in the Silhouette online store, which you can find here.

If you are interested in purchasing the June scrapbook kit from Artful Delight there are still a few left along with the June card kit.  Check out the details and place your order here.

Frosted Designs Polka Dot Challenge runs through Thursday 6/27.  Create a project containing polka dots and link it up on the blog here for a chance to win $25.00 gift certificate from Oh My Crafts.

The Path To R.C.M.P. House

Where has the time gone?  June is half way over, seems to have gone by in a flash!  I had some free time  and was able to complete a layout for a few challenges. I combined the June challenges at Scrap Around The World along with the House Challenge at 13Arts and the Stencils, Paint and Paste Challenge at Scrap Africa.  How nice to be able to incorporate a few challenges into one layout!
I dug in deep and ventured into the world of paint, masking, misting, gelatos and stamping!   I've always been so inspired by so many of you out there when it comes to using mixed  media on your projects, but have always felt uneasy at giving it a try.  I tend to over think my process, but this time I just went for it.

Loved the sketch for Scrap Around The World and mood board!

I drew my inspiration from the cameras as it drew me to the old and treasured pictures I have from my Mom's childhood. The text camera and the word "memories" along with the books, as it made be think of old pages, which I included on my layout. The pink in the mood board popped out at me so I included a touch of pink here and there on my layout.

At 13Arts you are required to:
1. Please create a project that contains the theme of a house.
2. Your work must contain also at least one recycled element, two types of media and a stamp or a transfer.
The picture on my layout was taken by my grandmother.  My grandfather was a Royal Canadian Policeman and the picture is of a snow covered path that leads to the house they lived in.  Love that the picture contains my grandmother's handwriting.  As there is no house in the picture, I included a chipboard house on my layout that I painted with gesso, added some crackle paint and texture paint.  I tore off a piece of a cardboard flap from a shipping box as my recycled item which I covered with texture paint. I used various stamps, stencils, modeling past and glimmer mist.  I also used a couple of pieces of paper from 13Arts Frosted Life collection.

Here are a few closeups:

I felt a reward of accomplishment with the finished product.  Thought of my Mom and how much she would have loved this layout and the memories she would have shared with me about her childhood.  I miss those days of conversation with my Mom.  She's still here, but those precious memories of her past are long gone, lost and forgotten.  This one is for you with love, Mom.

Zeus and Zoe Guest Designer!

I am so excited to be a Guest Designer for Zeus and Zoe this month!   Denise and Norma are hosting the June Challenge which is "My Favourite Things".  For those of you that know me, you know how much I love my flower gardens.  My favorite annual to plant is the Geranium, thus the star of my layout . . . This Makes Me Happy.

I used some beautiful papers from Bo Bunny's Prairie Chic collection.  Marivic, owner of Zeus and Zoe  and Berry71bleu, sent me a few goodies to work with.  One being the Emporium Tag die from Couture Creations.  Here I have used it in a few spots., along with a grid border chipboard from
 UmWow Studio.

I also worked with some Magical powder, Ghostly Gargoyle White by Lindy's Stamp Gang.  I mixed the power with some water and lightly brushed it on the little pink roses.

I did some background masking using the Circular Lattice mask by Prima along with some inks and misting.

Here is a closeup of my cluster and my pretty pink Geraniums:

Dance

Good morning everyone. I have a layout to share with you today that I created for  Page Maps Sketch Conversion Challenge where you convert a 8.5 x 11 sketch to a 12 x 12 layout.  I knew when I saw the sketch that I had to work with it. I love working with a white background, but I have to admit it's hard to get a decent picture, especially since the last few days it has been cloudy and raining here.
I snagged the adorable pictures from my friend's FB page.  When I saw them I thought of the song by Lee Ann Womack, I Hope You Dance.  I printed out the lyrics of the song and included them on my layout.

Here is the sketch we had to work with:

A closeup of the song lyrics, along with some white tickets from Purple Pumpkin
and star confetti from UmWow Studio, which I painted white and then added some glitter.

Love adding clusters to my layouts.

A quick tip for those who want to outline shapes and a punched border.   I used a Candy Pink Zig Writer,  pen (1.22 mm tip) and placed my pieces on a scrap paper and gently guided my pen along the outer edges to create the outlined effect.  I also used this technique on the Purple Pumpkin tickets.

Enjoy The Little Things In Life

The June Challenge at Berry71bleu is all about Summer . . . What is the thing you love to do most in the Summer?  I spend a lot of time outdoors enjoying the sunshine.  You can find me working in my flower gardens, or sitting out on my deck with a cool refreshing drink and a good book to read. My favorite author is Fern Michaels.
Our Design Team sponsor for the month of June is 7 Dots Studio.
We were lucky to be furnished with some collections to work with.  I used papers and tags from their Domestic Goddess, Hopefully and Love Is In The Air collections.

Our prize sponsor this month is Jacquard.
I was furnished a couple of colors of their PearlEx Power Pigments to work with and used them on the chipboard and lace on my layout.

I first covered my chipboard with some bronze ink.  Then I applied some distress crackle paint and PearlEx Green-Purple and Violet-Brass.  Once dried, I repeated the process.  I also randomly inked the lace below my picture and added some of the PearlEx colors.

 A few closeups:
Lots of layering -

Here I used a piece of hexagon chipboard from UmWow Studio
which I inked with some black and bronze ink.

I altered my picture in PicMonkey, a free online photo site.  I added a frosted edge around it in purple.

There is plenty of time for you to join our challenge.
Please check out all of the details and prize information here.
