You Make Me Happy

Just a quick one here to share with you . . . my son and his cute yet goofy looks!  Gotta love it!
I used some of the Lily Bee Double Dutch papers from my April Artful Delight kit .  Just so happens that I had the "you are my sunshine" rub ons in my stash also by Lily Bee.
Hope everyone has been enjoying the weekend!

You Are Perfect Just The Way You Are

Creative Scrappers has a bunch of great sketches this month and I was hoping to use a few of them, but my busy schedule has left me little scrappy time.  I managed to squeeze in a little time here and there the past week to complete a layout using their sketch #205 and pictures of my daughter Sara and our precious dog, Zoey.
and here is their sketch:
I incorporated some of My Mind's Eye stickers and chipboard from their beautiful Be Happy collection along with some long forgotten papers I found in my stash by Shabby Green Door.
Lots of punch work using my Martha Stewart Cherish and Eyelet Lace punches.

Flowers by Prima and a beautiful resin window by Recollections.

On another note, I've joined Pinterest and am hooked!  Love scrolling through all of the beautiful pictures.
And you wonder why I have such little free time! :)

I'm still working on organizing my scrapbook room.  It seems like a never ending job.  Do you know what it's like when you have something but can't find it?  Well that's me.  I'm bound and determined to get it done, it's just a matter of time.

Have a great weekend!

Today's Story: having a great time

It's Friday and over at Frosted Designs that means a new Fabulous Friday challenge, hexagons!  I decided to join our fabulous group of designers for the challenge.

I love the picture on my son Jeffrey on the  layout and wish it had been better one. The year was 1989 and we were on vacation in New Jersey.  I remember this day as if it were yesterday.  Jeffrey loved trucks and was so excited when he saw this ride on the boardwalk.  I am trying to make a better attempt at journaling on my pages and added this little envelope with an insert that captures my journaling.

Can't explain why, but I added some pop of hot pink to the layout.  It all started when I came across the  heart pin by Pink Paislee.  Knew it when I saw it that it had to be a part of the page.  I added a little stitiching and a little pink here and there.
I used bits and pieces from my February and April kits from Scrapbook Circle.  Lots of rub ons from Heidi Swapp in the April kit as well as some new Amy Tangerine Sketchbook papers.

Hope you will have some free time to join in on the challenge. We have a great prize from our sponsor Vintage Street Market.  Stop on over to see what the DT has created to get you motivated!

Home Is Where Your Story Begins - Once Upon A Sketch April Challenge

Hope everyone had a nice weekend.  The weather here was gorgeous.  Saturday the sky was blue and filled with big puffy white clouds.  Sunday ushered in some warmer and humid weather.  I spent yesterday working outside catching up on the weeds and watering my flowers.  It's been terribly dry here as of late. It certainly feels like summer, even though it's Spring.  I've got a layout to share that was inspired by the April challenge at Once Upon A Sketch.  A gorgeous sketch by Nadia and a theme of home.  When I first saw the theme I found myself digging through pictures of me and the kids and then was drawn to pictures of something specific to my home.  Then I came across a picture of my mom and dad in front of their first home.  The place where it all began.  For them as husband and wife and eventually for me and my siblings as a family. I thought the picture was quite fitting for the challenge. Click on the layout to get a better look at it!
Here is Nadia's beautiful sketch:
I used  papers and embellishments from October Afternoon's beautiful Farmhouse collection.  I love the colors in this collection!

This sticker "bliss" has a special meaning to me since it was the family name.

Found all kinds of goodies in my stash to use!

A touch of lace and buttons.

I even did a little embossing!

My hidden journaling tag which reads:
It all began with a young couple, Frank and Joan Bliss, newly married, moving into their new home at 5911 Vandergrift Avenue in 1953.  Along the way three children were born  Donny, Debbie and Barbara.  This home is where Mom and Dad’s life began as husband and wife and with that the life of myself and my siblings.

Darling - Guest Designer At Stuck On U Sketches

I'm amongst some scrappy friends today, guest designing at Stuck On U Sketches.  I have a layout to share along with a sketch.  First off my layout, featuring my mom at the age of 17.
and the sketch for SOUS, designed by me!
While trying and I say trying (cause I still am) to organize my scrappy supplies I came across a box of Prima goodies I forgot I had.  It was filled to the brim with the Prima Printery Collection and bunches of gorgeous embellishments. You ask how could I not know I had this?  Well, if you saw what my scrapbook room looks (would love to show you a picture, but I'd be embarrassed for you to see what it currently looks like) you'd understand how things could get lost in the mess!
Here are a few closeups:

Prima flower, K & Company frame and butterfly, Dusty Attic flourish

Lots of Prima goodness and a Dusty Attic flourish!

I hope you'll pop over to Stuck On U Sketches to see what the design team has created with my sketch and join in on the challenge.
A big thanks to Nanne, Sandi and Leah for having me as their guest designer!
Thanks for stopping by!

Brothers

Hope everyone had a enjoyable weekend whether you were celebrating Passover or Easter with your family and friends.  I had my mom and sister over for Easter dinner.  Along with myself and son, we had a wonderful afternoon.
I've got a layout to share with you using the April kit from Artful Delight.  It's a beautiful kit filled with new papers from Pink Paislee and Lily Bee.
I came across some old pictures of my dad and his brother and given that they were so small I decided to group them together.

Here are a few closeups of my layout:

I used some bits and pieces left over from some of old Artful Delight's kits along with some felt from my stash that I used to cut out the clouds. Love how the layout turned out!

1 Happy Go Lucky Little Boy

If you haven't stopped by Frosted Designs since the weekend, you need to stop by and see our new look.  I've kept myself busy over the last month designing the new look for the blog as well as designing all of the new blinkies!  It  was a learning process when it came to the blinkies. While you there, check out the new Sketch Along Tuesdays sketch challenge.  We have a unique sketch designed by our former DT member Eli and here is my take on it:
and Eli's sketch:
I dug through my stash for this one and only used one piece of new paper, the cute Scatter Sunshine paper by Amy Tangerine for American Crafts.
Here are a few closeups:
The airplane is from Echo Park's Little Boy collection.
Some cute embellishments I bought a while back from the Purple Pumpkin,
and a cute feltie bee by Sassafras Lass.
The tree is from Echo Park's Playground collection and a few more buttons from Purple Pumpkin.
I will say it felt good to use up some more of the "oldies" but goodies from my stash.  I'm really try hard to use what I have and hold back on purchasing.
Hope you'll have time to join in our on challenge.

I want to thank everyone for the kind words on my previous post featuring the layout of my mom.  I was humbled by everyone's kind words.  I posted the layout on Scrapbook.com and was moved by the number of people who are in or who had been in the same situation.  I was also pleasantly surprised to have my layout mentioned in Moxie Fab World's Out and About in the Moxie Fab World Friday Feature.
I take comfort in knowing that I am not alone in this journey with my mom.

Thanks for stopping by!
