Celebrate The Holiday

Good morning all!  It's cold and windy here today.  We've had our second snowfall in less then a week, both of which only gave us a few inches thankfully!  Love to look at it, but hate to drive in it!  The Christmas holiday has come and gone much too quickly.  I've still got decorations to take down but that won't happen for a few more days.  I managed to squeeze in some scrappy time yesterday to complete this layout using the December kit from Artful Delight and the Workout Sketch #82 from ScrapFIT.  I always enjoy working with the sketches Diana creates.  Here is my take on it:

 and here is Diana's sketch:
I cut the background using my Silhoutte Cameo and then punched
the circles from the Tis The Season paper by Simple Stories. Included in the December kit is the chipboard word "holiday" by Fabscraps which I painted with some Jenny Bowlin Malted Milk paint and them stamped with the Tim Holtz Merry Christmas stamp.
Love this cluster which includes some Maya Road ruffle blossoms from the kit along with some Purple Pumpkin embellishments.  I couldn't resist adding a badge of santa's belt that I got this holiday season from shopping at JCP.
For those of you that are interested in purchasing a December scrapbook or card kit from Artful Delight, you can check out the contents here and place your order.

Merry Christmas!

Christmas Eve brought us a little snow.
I couldn't help but think back to when my children were small and
how excited they would have been!

Tis The Season To Be Jolly

Four days and Christmas is here!!! I'm sure everyone is busy, busy, busy! Today my sister is coming over and we will be baking Christmas cookies! Yesterday I made chocolate chip, almond brickle and oatmeal raisin dipped in white chocolate. I still have a few presents to wrap and I hope to get them done tonight.. It's hard this time of the year to squeeze in some scrappy time, but  I do have a layout to share with you that I created using the December kit from Artful Delight

I love the big cluster of embellishments:

I added a few Purple Pumpkin Embellishments:
 a paper doily and

a heart wooden button and Christmas fabric button.

There are still a few kits left at Artful Delight.
You can see the contents of both the scrapbook and card kit here in the store.

Here's wishing everyone a Merry Christmas!

Holiday Sweets

Where has the month gone?  I'm looking at my calendar and can't believe that is is already December 19th.  The days are going by too fast, next thing you know it will be Christmas.  I finished up a layout this morning, and enjoyed working on it. So many memories came to my mind most of which are of my mom.  As you all know my mom was diagnosed with alzheimers.  So much of her is gone and I cherish and hold close to my heart the memories I have of Christmas past.  A tradition in my family as long back I  can remember is the annual baking of rolled sugar cookies.  As a child my siblings and I decorated the cookies my mom rolled out.  The tradition continues with myself and my sister and our children.   As the holiday approaches I find myself in the kitchen making these delicious cookies and remembering the times I spent with my mom and how much fun we had.  Oh how I would give anything to have that moment again of making these cookies with my mom.  I dedicate my layout to my mom and all that made her so special.  I am entering this in a couple of challenges.  The first one is the Waiting For Santa Challenge at Indiko. The second challenge is Bird is the Word word challenge, "Holiday".

A few closeups:

I accented the My Minds Eye paper with some stickles:

Some jewels, modeling paste:

It's A December Winter Wonderland

I'm so happy that I got a layout completed!!!  I've been super busy spending most of my time caring for my mom and haven't had much "me" time lately. Hard to believe that I hadn't been in my scrapbook room for almost two weeks. There are a couple of challenges that I wanted to do and my layout fits both!
First off is Once Upon A Sketch December sketch and theme It's December.
The first thing that comes to my mind is Christmas, and when I think of Christmas I think of snow.  I thought about when I was little and how much I always wished for a white Christmas.
I am also entering this layout in the White Christmas challenge at Berry71Bleu.  This challenge is hosted by Vicky and you must use a white background as your base.
My daughter took the picture in December 2010.  Love this picture!

I did a lot of masking, inking and embossing on this layout.  Messy but fun!

My journaling tag is hidden beneath my picture

I've added some Purple Pumpkin embellishments including cream doilies
paper doily with musical notes
musical note button
Used up lots of my stash and a new Martha Stewart Punch Around The Page Large Set, Winter Snow that I found in the clearance isle at Michaels on Tuesday for $9.00.  Gotta love a bargain!

Girly Girl

Life seems to get so busy and hectic this time of the year.  Thanksgiving has come and gone and now it's on to preparing for Christmas.  Where has this year gone?  It's hard to believe that it is December. Counting the days to Christmas. It's hard to squeeze in time to get projects done, let alone visit all of your blogs. I have a lot going on with my mom and her deteriorating health.  Trying my best to keep up with all of you and I appreciate those of you that pay me a visit.  The December sketch challenge is up over at Purple Pumpkin.   I designed the sketch this month and I hope that all of your have time to play along. Enter for a chance to win a Purple Pumpkin prize package.

Here is the December sketch which I flipped:

I used up some more of my stash, the Random Collection by Crate Paper.
It's amazing what you find when you take a little time to go through things.

Lots of Purple Pumpkin embellishemnts:
pink bow, crochet flowers, Vintage girl button

and two wooden buttons and a ticket:

I had purchased a Silhoutte Cameo several months ago and just got around to unpacking it and giving it a try!  I was impressed with how well it cuts intricate shapes.

If you need more inspiration, the December kits and sketches are on the Artful Delight blog.
Check out the post here.  Two great kits to choose from.

Happiness Is A Delightful Autumn Day

Have you all recovered from your Thanksgiving dinner?  I cooked lots and lots for my family and we ate and ate and then watched the football game.  It was nice to have everyone together.  I'm sure a lot of you are out and about shopping those Black Friday Deals . . . not me!
I'll be spending my day starting to put up my Christmas decorations.
Now on the some craftiness . . .
I have another layout to share with you today.  I used my November kit from
Artful Delight.  I love this kit!  I created my layout for the Happiness Challenge at Frosted Designs and the November Challenge at Get Creative, use 3 or more  different pictures.  This was a hard one for me as I usually only have one picture on my layout, but I'm happy with the result.
Another layout completed for my friend Julina.
The pictures are from a family photo shoot taken in October.  Love them!!

I took the lined Maya Road heart from the November kit and cut out a smaller heart from pattern paper in the kit and out lined it with rick rack, also from the kit. I used an Amy Tangerine date stamp above the heart.
Below is the title which I printed on the computer.
Some leaves cut from a small punch and a Quickutz die.
For those of you out there braving the crowds to find your holiday bargains . . . have fun!

Key To My Heart

I'm trying to get in a couple of challenges before the end of the month.  I always enjoy the sketch challenges at Once Upon A Sketch and put this layout together last night.  The theme this month is anything goes and I chose a picture of my friend, and best hairdresser in the world, Julina and her sweet little one, Zoey.  For those of you who are wondering why I scrap so many pictures of Julina, I have been working on an album for her.
and here is Nadia's gorgeous sketch:
I dug into my stash again and used up lots of those "oldies" by 7 Gypsies, Jenni Bowlin,
Glitz Designs and Prima.
One of the requirements of Once Upon A Sketch is journaling.  Tucked behind the doily is hidden journaling with special words from a mother to her daughter:
I added a lot of masking and stamping and machine stitching:
Love this cluster with a large Prima flower, along with two Maya Road flowers and a Recollections bird:
For those of you celebrating Thanksgiving this Thursday,
wishing you a wonderful day spent with family and friends.

A Boy And His Toys

If you are here for the Frosted Designs Fall Blog Hop, click here for my post.

Happy Monday everyone! Hope all of you had an enjoyable weekend!  The weather here was beautiful and I took advantage of it and got some yard work done, raking leaves, cutting back perennials and digging out the annuals that the frost have taken in my flower beds.  So sad :(  as my flower gardens look so barren now.  On the bright side, I have a layout to share with you that I created using some Purple Pumpkin embellishments.
I have to say I'm proud of myself lately for digging into my stash and using up some of those older collections.  Here I used some Crate Paper and Fancy Pants!  Love this picture of my son when he was just a little one, only 9 months old.

A few closeups of the Purple Pumpkin embellishments:
