You Are The Apple Of My Eye

This layout is of my daughter when she was just 3 1/2 years old.  The picture was taken at her preschool.
As much as she wanted to go to preschool, it took her some time to settle in. I'm sure you can tell by the trembling little smile on her face.  I wanted to do something different this time with my picture.  I changed it to black and white and then colorized the little apple pin she was wearing on her dress.
My layout is based on the new sketch this week over at Sketches In Thyme
Another great sketch by Helen Croft over at Scrap A Little.
Make sure you stop by to see what are amazing DT has done and join in on the challenge.
I used paper by My Mind's Eye, October Afternoon and Crate Paper.  I added embellishments from Crate Paper's School Spirit collection along with that cute little felt flower and the owl and bird buttons that I purchased over at the Purple Pumpkin
I cut the tree from my Cricut cartridge Straight From The Nest.  I cut it in two sizes, inked it and added some faux stitching and of course pop up dots.
Don't forget to stop by tomorrow for my DT reveal for Stuck On U Sketches.
Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Birthday Card

Well, I'm the first to admit that I am not that much of a card maker.  I always see so many beautiful cards on blogs, but my preference is layouts.  Saturday is World Card Making Day, and Aphra over at The Paper Poppy Kit Co.  has a challenge to make a card using at least one item from her September Summer Daze kit.  Well my mom has a birthday in November, and since Aphra is offering such a great prize for the winning card, I thought I would break out of my comfort zone and make my mom a card.
Everything on this card came from the Summer Daze kit with the exception of the pearl and the November calendar page.
The kit came with two chipboard flowers, which I traced onto the pattern paper.  The larger flower I adhered to the chipboard.  The smaller one I chose to curl the edges.  I added some blue ink around the edges. The center of the flower is cut from a piece of the Sassafras Lass Indie Girl paper from the kit.
I popped up some of the Sassafras Lass leaf border and added a ruffle out of pink crepe paper. I  punched the butterflies out using a Martha Stewart punch.  All in all, I'm quite pleased with how it turned out!  I think in the future, I will take a better look at the left over scraps of have and try my hand at making another card.
I also wanted to let you know that Frosted Designs is looking to add more members to their design team.  Click here for more information.

Natural Beauty

We've got a new challenge for you over at Frosted Designs!  This week's challenge is to use peach and cream on a layout!
I've been enjoying working with some of the old photos my mom gave me.
These are of my grandmother.  I drew my title from her own natural beauty and the beauty of the outdoor backgrounds in the pictures.
I used paper by Scribble Scrabble, and embellishments by Prima and K and Company.  The alphabet is by American Crafts.
Thanks for stopping by!  I always enjoy reading your comments and making new friends!

Momma Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys

The fourth Thursday of every month I share a project over at She's A Sassy Lady.  This month I chose to share a layout of my son, Jeffrey.  Believe it or not I've held onto to this photo for many a year waiting for the perfect paper.  I'm a hugh fan of Cosmo Cricket and when they came out with their new mini collection, Wanted I knew I had to buy it, and thus a layout was born!
The frame I used on my layout I've had for years.  It's by My Minds Eye.
I wanted to make some photo corners to mimic the frame.  I added some brads I've had for a while by Pebbles.  If you also notice the background paper, also by Cosmo Cricket mimics the frame.
All of the embellishments on my layout are part of the Wanted Collection.  I added a fence I cut with my Cricut cartridge My World.
For the finishing touch I took some twine and added a lasso.

Carousel - Paper Poppy Kit Co. Challenge

I managed to work on a layout last night and just finished putting the finishing touches on it when I got home from work today.    For the past several months I have been buying the monthly kits from Paper Poppy Kit Co.  Aphra does a great job filling her kits!
When I received my September kit it was full of Sassafras Lass Indie Girl paper and stickers.   When I first looked at the paper all I could think of was something girlie.  I told myself to think outside of the box.  As I was looking through some old pictures I came across this one of my son when he was little, riding the carousel.  As soon as I noticed the colors in the horse along with the decor of the carousel, I knew I could work this layout with the Indie Girl paper.  The September challenge over at Paper Poppy Kit is to use three different edges on  your layout.  This was quite easy given the choices of all the Indie Girl border stickers and the red and pink ribbon included in the kit.
Well I need to get going.  I've got to fix some dinner, do a load of laundry and be ready at 8:00 to watch Glee!

Remember The Journey - My SOUS Reveal!

Friday couldn't have come soon enough, as I've been anxious to reveal my first layout for
I'm thrilled to be part of their great team of designers!  Their sketch this week is a two pager by Sketchy Thursdays.   When I first saw the sketch I knew I wanted to use these pictures and paper, but did not have enough of the paper to complete two pages.  So I condensed the two pager into a one pager.
I love scrapping with old pictures.  These are of my mom and her family back from 1940.  My mom lived in Canada and her dad was a Royal Canadian Mountie.  In these  pictures her  family, along with my grandfather's assistant Ormond and his children are out for the day on a boat ride.   All of the paper and most of the embellishments are Pink Paislee, Bayberry collection.
Don't you just love this beautiful scrolled flourish border?  I received the Cricut Reminisce Accents cartridge for my birthday.  It is packed with beautiful detailed flourishes, scrolls, flowers and an alphabet.
I used my Fiskars scallop punch to create this beautiful flower, which I edged with some gold stickles.
The beautiful metal embellishments are by Making Memories.
If you haven't seen my post from yesterday, I Adore You, please scroll down to yesterday's post and take a look.  I completed this layout for Sketches In Thyme's new challenge.  This is my most favorite layout ever!

I Adore You

Do you ever have one of those layouts that comes together so perfectly? The perfect paper, embellishments and picture? This is how I feel about this layout.  I think it is my all time favorite layout. The picture is of my daughter snuggling with our dog, Zoey!  Can't you just feel the love?
I absolutely love these scrumptious papers by The Girls Paperie!  So feminine and such soft pastels colors!
Today is our new reveal over at Sketches In Thyme.  Kim has chosen another great layout by Helen Croft over at Scrap A Little.
I bought this beautiful button from the Purple Pumpkin and adorned with with some pink flat back pearls.
I will have another reveal tomorrow, as it is my debut over at Stuck On U Sketches!  I can't wait to share my layout with you.
Thanks for stopping by!

High School Graduation Time

Oh my gosh, what a gorgeous day!  Couldn't ask for a more beautiful day then today!  The sun is shining and temps are low!  Fall is approaching and I'm so happy for some much needed cooler weather!
I've been working on this layout a little bit at a time this past week.
These pictures are from my son's graduation five years ago.  It's hard to believe that it was that long ago.  It was a proud moment for me, as he is my oldest and my first child to graduate.  I used a kit I bought from Leanne's blog, ArtfulDelight, which is filled with Crate Paper's School Spirit collection.  Actually everything on this layout with the exception of the October Afternoon mini alphabet letters is in her September kit. Leanne has a layout challenge this week where you are to create a layout showcasing something your child or family member has done at school or in a sport that made you proud.  I based my layout on the sketch over at Sketchy Thursdays
I used my new notebook border punch by Fiskars, and as always lots and lots of layering!
Thanks for stopping by!

Friends Are The Sunshine Of Life Layout

Good morning to all!  First off, I want to apologize that I have not visited your blogs much this week.  My mom has been ill and I've been stopping by her house every day after work and spending the evenings with her.  I hope to be able to catch up with everyone over the weekend.
It's Friday and time for a new challenge over at Frosted Designs, and it's to use a quote on your project.  I created this layout which I want to put in a 12 x 12 frame.
The September sponsor for Frosted Designs is Robyn's Fetish Stamps and More. The designers were given digi stamps to use on our projects.  I used her cute Daisy Days digital stamp on my layout.  To be honest I have never used a digital stamp before.   What was the hardest for me was how would I color my image.  I don't have a nice set of markers, so I opened the stamp in my PhotoShop program and went to town with the paint option.  After I added  my colors, I texturized the image to make it look like canvas.  I printed out two copies, as I wanted to cut out portions of the image and give Daisy some dimension with some pop up dots.
All of the papers and flowers on my layout are from the Little Yellow Bicycle Clothesline collection.   I purchased the picket fence at Michaels.  I dug into my stash of trims and used some eyelet lace that I accented with some colored pearls, and also added some yellow lace trim around the sun.
I used my new Melody Ross Chip Art tools that I won from Paper Crafts Magazine blog on the oval frame.
Don't you just love those cute little flowers on the frame?
I also used the new Fiskars grass border punch.   Fiskars has several  new border punches out and A Cherry On Top had a promo, buy 2, get one free.  Besides the grass punch, I bought their new postage stamp and notebook border punches. Just loving all my new toys!
