May Your Days Be Merry & Bright

If you have come here from Diana's blog for the Frosted Designs Holiday Blog Hop, please click here to go to my posting.

Do you ever have an idea pop in your head for a layout and it just won't leave?  Well that happened to me yesterday as I was busy trying to finish up my decorating for Christmas!  So I set aside a little time yesterday afternoon and started my layout, and then last night I went back to it to finish it up.
I came across this picture that my mom had given me and loved the snow covered ground and trees.  Mind you it is a very small picture and I re sized it in photo shop and unfortunately it became a little grainy.
Here is the original picture:
Reminds me of a picture postcard in all its beauty and I love that it has my grandmother's handwriting on it!
This is another picture from when my mother and her family lived in Fort Chipewyan, in Alberta Canada.  If you look closely at the picture you can see the tracks in the ground that lead to the Royal Canadian Mountie House where they lived. I used some of the new collection Waiting For Santa by Webster's Pages and Bo Bunny's A Gift Of Love along with some beautiful snowflakes I had in my stash by K and Company.
I cut out a tree from one of the Webster's Pages, added white applique and then sprinkled it with glitter, as I wanted the tree to look snow covered like the trees in the picture.
I also did the same with the house and some branches.
I added some red and blue stickles to the hot air balloon:
Here are a few more closeups:
This picture shows the dimension to the layout, as I did a lot of cutting and layering:
It's cold here today in Maryland, only 32 degrees.  I've got my Christmas carols playing and some chex mix baking in the oven!  The Christmas tree is up, lights on and the kids and I will decorate it this afternoon.
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!
Happy Holidays!

Beautiful LO! I don't live far from you and we are having some of the same weather. I love it when I can snuggle on the couch with my kids. Hate having to take them out in the cold though. I am coming to your house, it sounds so festive!!! :-)
