The Only Impossible Journey ... Creative Embellishments

Hi everyone!  I'm up on the Cretive Embellishments blog today.   Ready to take a steampunk journey with me?  I had a lot of fun working with a gear from Large Gear Frames along with papers from Stamperia's Lady Vagabond paper collection. The store has a great selection of steampunk shapes to work with and I used several pieces on my project.

I used a variety of colors of embossing powders, WOW Primary Bark and Stampendous Aged Teal, Aged Wine, Aged Bronze, Aged Taupe and Aged Spice on the chipboard pieces. Lots of layering along with some stamped flowers and Lady Vagabond printed chipboard.

The base of my project is a large gear frame from Large Gear Frames, embossed with a mixture of Primary Bark and Taupe embossing powders.  On both sides of the large gear I used pieces from the Large Gear Set.  Some pieces were embossed with Wine embossing powder and others with Teal.

Smaller gears from Gear Set 2 Small were embossed with Wine embossing powder along with a key from Steampunk Keys, embossed with a mixture of Primary Bark and Taupe embossing powders.  A piece from Gear Flourish  was embossed with Teal embossing powder and placed below the feet of Lady Vagabond.

The other piece from Gear Flourish, embossed with Teal embossing powder placed beneath the large gear from Large Gear Frames.

In the center I used a window from Arched Window Set of 3, embossed with Taupe embossing powder.  To the right of the window I placed a piece from Simple Gear Flourish, embossed with Teal embossing powder along with a large gear from Large Gear Set, embossed with a mixture of Spice and Bronze embossing powders. Smaller gears from Gear Set 2 Small, embossed with Wine embossing powder were tucked in with the flowers.

Destination Unknown - Creative Embellishments September Challenge

Hi everyone!  Hard to believe it's September.  The first of the month brings a new challenge at Creative Embellishments.    Love the photo inspiration for the challenge.  It made me think of travel destinations from years past.  As a child I spent my summer in the mountains where my maternal grandparents lived.  Love the outdoors.  When I had children of my own, summer vacations were spent at the beach.
I created this tag as a remembrance of vacations that are close to my heart.

I started off by using the Distressed Crackle Stamp on the background paper.  I heat embossed it with Tim Holtz Distress Vintage Photo embossing power and added some Vintage Photo Distress Oxide Ink.  Lots of layering with chipboard and papers from Blue Fern Studios Wanderlust collection along with some Tim Holtz Idea Ology Snippets and photos from his Photobooth pack. At the base of my layering is the Old World Map Small.   Other chipboard pieces used were from the Film Set.  Both the map and film set were stamped with Tim Holtz Black Soot distress Oxide Ink.  I then applied some embossing medium using the Distressed Crackle Stamp, heat embossed with Vintage Photo embossing power and applied some Prima Bronze Wax.  To the right of the tag I used pieces from Mini Leaves Set 1, stamped with Old Paper, Vintage Photo and Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide Inks.

Here are a few close ups:

Here's the September Challenge picture.

The twist is add a map or globe.  Stop by the Creative Embellishments blog for inspiration from the design team.  Hope you'll join us!

Gentle - Creative Embellishments

Hi everyone!  I'm up on the Creative Embellishments blog today with this flower filled canvas.  I enjoy the beautiful flowers that bloom in my garden and took inspiration from them to create this canvas.

I started off by stamping portions of the background of the canvas.  I then applied some embossing medium and embossing powder.  To finish off I used a couple of color sprays, Cape Cod Coral by Lindys Stamp Gang and Tim Holtz Frayed Burlap Distress Spray Stain.  Next it's time to build the layers.  I used flowers from my stash and lot of Creative Embellishments Chipboard.

Love this new dragonfly chipboard from Dragonflies Set of 5 .  I used a mixture of embossing powders, Blue Fern Studios Mushroom and Snow, Ranger Tea Rose and Emerald Creek Forest Foliage.  Beneath the dragonfly is a piece from Rose Leaves, embossed with Mushroom, Snow and Forest Foliage embossing powders.  Beneath the leaves are pieces from Fern Foliage 3 embossed with Tea Rose and Forest Foliage embossing powders.

At the base of the canvas I used a piece from Scribbles embossed with Tea Rose and Snow embossing powders.  Lots of layering with Scribbles, flowers and Rose Leaves.

Here's another view from the side of the canvas.

Love Letter - Creative Embellishments

Hi everyone!  I'm up on the Creative Embellishments blog today with this decorative 6" frame.  Love the variety of frames in the store.  With the decorative frames you can choose from 6" or the smaller 2" ones.

I'm a big fan of treating my chipboard with embossing powders, but challenged myself to use inks and paints for this project.  Love the finished look of the treated chipboard. I used papers from Stamperia's Calligraphy collection along with some Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks,  Distressed Paints and Distressed Spray Stains.

I applied some Tim Holtz Frayed Burlap and Iced Spruce Distressed Oxide Inks to the frame.  Once the inks dried I dabbed on some Walnut Stain Distressed Paint and added some stamping using the  Distressed Crackle Stamp.

Beneath the layering I used the smaller piece from Flourish Set 4.  I applied some Frayed Burlap Distress Oxide Ink and added some stamping with the Distressed Crackle Stamp.

Under all of the layering is a piece from Ripped Notebook Paper, stamped with Old Paper Distress Oxide Ink and stamped with the Distressed Script Stamp.  To the right I used 2 pieces from the Ink and Quill set.  I applied Black Soot and Walnut Stain Distress Oxide Inks to the bottle and Iced Spruce Distress to the quill.  Under the stack of letters is a piece from Door Knockers, treated with Vintage Photo Distress Oxide Ink and dabbed with Rusty Hinge Distressed Paint.

The key is from the  Keys set. I used the same technique on the key as the piece from Door Knockers.  to finish off my project I added some flowers and lace.

Remember The Now - Creative Embellishments

Hi everyone! I'm up on the Creative Embellishments blog today with this canvas. I wasn't able to get it completed for the August Challenge reveal, but better late then never.    Love the neutral colors, tiles and succulents. I have succulents, hens and chickens in my garden and in strawberry pots on my deck. Very low maintenance.  All they need is some sunshine and a little rain. The ones in my strawberry pots I've had for over 30 years.

I started off by stamping the background of the canvas.  I applied some Tim Holtz Tattered Rose Distress Spray Stain.  From there I built up layers with lots of Creative Embellishments chipboard, Blue Fern Studios flowers, succulents from my stash along with some fussy cut items from Mintay's Flora Book 5.

On the left side of the canvas I used Arched Door Set 2 and a piece from Ceiling Medallions.  Both pieces were embossed with a mixture of colors, Ranger  Verdigris along with Blue Fern Studios Ebony and Garnett.

The Distressed Hexagon Pieces was embossed with the same mixture as the doors and medallion.  Love the Thistle chipboard piece.  I embossed it with a mixture of Ranger Tea Rose and Verdigris embossing powders.

The title, from Tim Holtz Idea Ology Small Talk Stickers, rest atop a piece from Distressed Hexagon Pieces.  I added some Prima Art Stones and Pucker-Up and Stop Winning Mini Prills by US Art Quest.
