Home

There is a story behind this layout.  Every Spring I encounter Finches that insist on building their nest on my front porch.  Whatever it may be, a potted plant or hanging plant, I always worry once the eggs hatch, as I fear when the babies begin to fly that my dog will go after them.  I try each year to check my plants and if I see the beginnings of a nest I discard it.   This year I wasn't on top of nest checking and found one in a planter on my front porch.  By the time I had discovered it, eggs had already been laid, and when I checked on it Saturday, I discovered that the eggs had hatched and the nest contained several little babies.
It's hard to tell in the picture, as the babies are tiny and all curled up.  I thought this picture was perfect for  Bellaidea's May Challenge at Inkido, birds, feathers & birdscages, along with the Punches Challenge at Frosted Designs.
I used a few pieces of papers from Inkido's Beautiful Memories and Forever Summer collections along with some of their Fashion Flowers. I punched a strip using my Martha Stewart Daisy Lace border punch and them stamped it using a Crochet Lace Doily stamp by Recollections.

Here I incorporated a small twig that I found near the nest and added a K & Company bird along with a metal bird cage by Recollections.

A pretty flower cluster.
I painted a small amount of gesso on the flowers and added some spanish moss.

And here I added a few small delicate feathers.

It's a chilly day here today, and quite windy.  I've got a cook out planned for my sister whose birthday is Tuesday.  Looking forward to spending some time with her today.

Hope you all enjoy your weekend!

Thanks for stopping by!

This is just so beautiful, initially the gorgeous colours grabbed my attention and then the more I looked the more I loved. The little twig you added, the meaning behind the layout of the little birds taking flight, the colours! it is all just divine
